KINGTON SHOW OPENING TIMES: 9am-6pm
ENTRY FEES: £10 adults, £8 pensioners, £5 10-16 year olds, children up to 10 years free. FREE PARKING.
The sun shone on a glorious showground at the Ovals Farm, Kington. With showground full of diverse trade stands, the morning started chilly, but by the time the gates opened, the rain that had occurred overnight was forgotten and although the weather felt autumnal, the sun warmed up the showground and the day was set to be exceptional. With the harvest already completed by many local farmers, they came out in force support their local show.
The Kington Show committee, worked exceedingly hard to make the day a success. Nick Layton, chairman of Kington Show, “I would like to thank all the volunteers who have helped the show, all the exhibitors, traders, sponsors and the general public for supporting the show. We really cannot survive without them.”
Livestock exhibitor entries were again good with many horses, sheep, cattle and poultry there. With Kington Show being one of the last shows of the year, many feel this is their last chance to show their stock before winter. The grand parade of livestock was a wonderful sight, culminating in the show’s president, Mr Les Thomas judging the Supreme Show animal, choosing between the Champion Horse, Supreme Sheep and Interbreed Cattle Champion. The winner being the Interbreed Cattle champion, a commercial beast owned by Mr AD Bishop, from Pitfield Farm, Eldersfield, Gloucestershire.
Kington Show had very high attendance with the public enjoying the shearing, Interhunt competitions, and other entertainment. The secretary, Clare Edwards. “With strong public support for Kington and the real sense of pride in the community it is a showcase of everything that our diverse and successful county has to offer.” Next year’s Kington Show will be on Saturday 13th September 2014.
